FAEWA

A Fully Active Electric Wheel Assembly with five locally controlled degrees of freedom and up to 500 kW of propulsion power per wheel.

5 DOF fully active wheel control
5 dedicated electric motors
500 kW propulsion power per wheel
0 m turning radius in FAECA form
One wheel, five functions

A complete motion system.

FAEWA integrates traction, steering, suspension, braking and camber control into one crashworthy electric wheel assembly. High-power-density tubular and rotary motors provide a wide steering and suspension operating range, with each wheel controlled locally.

AALT’s parallel-kinematics arrangement holds the wheel from three points, delivering high rigidity across an unusually wide range of steering, suspension and camber motion.

Four assemblies combine with a crashworthy chassis and an appropriately rated battery to create FAECA—the Fully Active Electric Chassis Assembly. This mobile platform can serve as an auxiliary drive for tight-radius operation or transport levitated vehicles before commissioning.
